Last week I showed a student a simple fajing trick.
Both my hands were pressing on his right arm. I applied power to push him back.
He tried to push back and it looked like he might succeed in pushing me back.
However, in the next instant his power was neutralized and he got pushed back instead. So what happened?
The moment I sensed the push back I quickly refocused my force to merge with him and pushed back.
Its a simple trick but it did the job. If you want a more in-depth explanation on the principle you can refer to the process depicted on page 21, TaijiKinesis Vol 2 – Learning the Taijiquan Form. This is a key to understanding how to Master Tai Chi Today particularly with regards to how to generate power with the use of intention and minimal outer motion.
